Reading for enjoyment

St Oran’s College is committed to engaging students in reading for enjoyment, which is part of the curriculum. We have a strong connection with the library and its staff, who provide a wide range of reading material, keep up with the latest trends, and spend time with classes promoting reading and books, and helping students to find their unique reading identity.

Events

Once a year in Term 2, we hold Library Week, which is a chance to celebrate the library with a dress up as a book character day, various activities, and an author visit.

We also try to host an author at another point in the year to connect with various subject areas around the school.

Throughout the year we run various activities, competitions and reading campaigns to keep students engaged and excited about reading, as well as celebrating various cultural and social events.
