JOIN OUR PASTORAL CARE TEAM AS A GUIDANCE COUNSELLOR

St Oran’s College is looking for a warm, experienced, and dedicated Guidance Counsellor to join our supportive school community. This role is primarily responsible for providing personal, social, and academic support to our Year 7-13 students, helping to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
About the role:
Part-time, permanent.
Hours: Three days per week (must include Fridays), 8:30 am – 3:30 pm, term time only.
Purpose: You will work collaboratively with students, staff, and whānau, reporting to the Leader of Pastoral Care and the Principal.
What you’ll bring:
An appropriate qualification in counselling and a commitment to working within the NZAC Code of Ethics.
Previous experience in a counselling role specifically working with children and adolescents.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust and maintain confidentiality.
A collaborative spirit and a willingness to support the special character and values of St Oran’s College.
Key Responsibilities:
Providing a confidential counselling service to both students and staff.
Advocating for students and liaising with families and outside agencies when necessary.
Supporting and mentoring staff while working as an active member of our school-wide pastoral team, including our current guidance counsellor.
Engaging in regular external professional supervision and ongoing professional development.
